I wish they’d gone in this direction with the new Superman film.
(the above image is by Dan Jurgens, iirc?)
I can’t handle the sudden switchover between Street fighter IV and King of Fighters XIII, as I get all mixed up as who has what moves between Adon and Hwa Jai. It’s a tough life.
This happened today at the A4E ‘interview skills’ thing I was at as part of the Work Programme
What a fucking shitty, humiliating day of ‘interview skills’ at the Work Programme. Just two days to go of jumping through this particular hoop.
On the plus side, the library’s got my reservation in of ‘Flesh’ by Pat Mills.
Home to Stay: Edinburgh Festival Evictions -
A former landlord gave us notice to quit after 11 months because he wanted to put the flat up for short-term let during the Edinburgh Festival. Landlords can get 3-4 times the normal monthly rent for short-term contracts during the festival period, and the demand for rented homes in Edinburgh is…
Everyone should follow this tumblr! New campaign for security of tenure in Scotland. This will allow people to share their horror stories and hopes for better private renting - so please submit your stories and share widely!
I have three days of demeaning, patronising ‘interview skills’ ‘workshops’ at A4E this week, starting in an hour and a half. It won’t help me get a job, but it WILL help make my feelings of self-worth plummet. So, y’know, THANKS, Work Programme.

The fun starts heeeere
Superheroes: why not make your iconic fetish supersuit more gritty and credible by replacing any striking, bright red colours with a dull, subdued oxblood hue? That way, when you’re zooming around and saving the world by punching things, you’ll appear ‘real’, ‘boring’, and ‘not for kids’!
Had my first lag-free games of King of fighters XIII online yesterday. Got beat repeatedly, but it was close! Had a lot of fun going Duo Lon, he’s more interesting to play as than I realised.
How I wish it had better online, really. Even playing my pal who lives 15 minutes away has lag. Grrrngh.
Ha, so I’m exaggerating about KoF 95 being the most aesthetically-pleasing game of all time, but by jove, it is a beautiful package. The title screen, the character select screen, those amazing, atmospheric backgrounds, the way the teams hang out onscreen (I really wish they hadn’t done away with that), the colour schemes, the sprites themselves… It just looks and feels right and it holds a very special place in my heart.
I love you KoF 95, even though all the moves do too much damage (I assume this was so it’d eat your money at the arcade).
